St John Fisher Catholic Primary School

Pupil Premium

At St John Fisher Catholic Primary School, we believe that every child is unique, valued and full of God-given potential. As a Catholic school, we are guided by Christ’s teaching that “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).

Our mission calls us to "stand united in faith with the courage to build a loving world of truth, justice, peace and wisdom," and we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Pupil Premium funding helps us provide additional support for children who may face barriers to learning, enabling them to fully access the rich educational opportunities available at St John Fisher.

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the Government to schools to help improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and close attainment gaps where they exist.

Funding is allocated for pupils who:

  • Are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)
  • Have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point during the last six years
  • Are looked after by a local authority or have previously been looked after
  • Have been adopted from care or are subject to certain special guardianship arrangements
  • Have a parent serving in the Armed Forces

How Pupil Premium Supports Our Children

At St John Fisher, we use Pupil Premium funding carefully and strategically to ensure children receive the support they need to flourish academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

Funding may be used to provide:

  • Additional support in reading, writing, and mathematics
  • High-quality teaching and targeted interventions
  • Resources and learning materials
  • Pastoral and wellbeing support
  • Access to educational visits and enrichment opportunities
  • Support with attendance and engagement
  • Opportunities that broaden children's experiences and aspirations

Our aim is not simply to remove barriers to learning but to ensure that every child develops the confidence, knowledge, skills, and character needed to thrive both now and in the future.

Could Your Child Be Eligible?

For every eligible pupil registered for Free School Meals, the school receives additional funding. This funding can continue for up to six years, even if family circumstances change.

Registering for Free School Meals will not affect any meals your child currently receives and all information is treated confidentially.

By registering, you could help provide additional support and opportunities not only for your own child but for the wider school community.
